Despite the fact that it says "cause Prone affliction with a crossbow", causing it with abilities (such as cipher's Amplified Wave) works as well. --92.100.101.194 16:54, 8 July 2021 (UTC)

It doesn't specifically say this, not that I can see at least (though I guess it is implied). To confirm, do you mean that crits from any source will trigger prone - not just from the crossbow attacks? That ability causes Prone itself, so unless you can confirm that the duration of the applied prone is 6.0 seconds (of Spellchance: Prone) rather than 8.0 seconds (of Amplified Wave), I can't validate this. It says so? Here's a quote from its description:
"Cause the Prone affliction 10 times with One-Eyed Molina's Gold-Fingered Spike-Flinger to unlock the next level."
What I meant is I could advance this soulbound item to the next level by using Amplified Wave while holding this crossbow.

Here's my steam screenshot in game: I used Amplified Wave to apply 10+ seconds Prone and it advanced my progress on the weapon.

P.S. Also just tested: using Silent Scream to apply Stunned affliction also works in upgrading this item. --92.100.101.194 17:39, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
Oh I see, my apologies - I thought you were referring to the conditions of the application of the effect, not the soulbound upgrade requirements, it wasn't obvious to me. That makes a lot more sense. There are a lot of cases where requirements say one thing but are implemented in another way entirely, just one of the many quirks of the game. This info would be useful for others to know, so don't hesitate to add it yourself (to a new notes section for example), otherwise I can do so when I get the time. Thanks for all the tidbits though, every little bit of detail helps, and I'm sure people appreciate it. Macklin (talk) 18:31, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
No offense taken, so no apologies necessary, my friend. If you could spare a moment to add that info in comprehensible way into main entry, I would appreciate it. I prefer to stay in Talk section. --92.100.101.194 18:51, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
No worries, I have added this info to a new notes section on the page. Macklin (talk) 07:12, 9 July 2021 (UTC)

Level 4 and 5 upgrades - speed is bugged[]

So I a had a nagging doubt about how this arbalest works and stumbled upon some discussion from 2018 that claimed that this arbalest gets slower after level 4 and 5 soulbound upgrades. I made a bunch of videos in game, shooting this arbalest and counting time between shots in video editing software (pressed start/pause on videos right upon hearing shooting sounds). My cipher is 22 DEX, ligth armor (+15% recovery time). Latest full (all DLCs) steam version of the game.

Level 3 upgrade - Duration between shots about 06.93 sec

Level 4 upgrade - Duration between shots about 07.36 sec

Level 5 upgrade (final) - Duration between shots about 09.11 sec

So this arbalest is actually bugged, unless those are intentional downgrades instead of supposed upgrades.

I then installed a mod from nexus that fixes this. Level 5 upgrade (final) with this mod - Duration between shots about 04.71 sec

Just wanted to clear out confusion from this subject. --92.100.101.194 16:59, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
