Novice's Suffering is a talent in Pillars of Eternity.

Description[ | ]

Items in italics are quoted directly from the game.

The character has learned a portion of the intense pain tolerance and spiritual power that monks possess. Their unarmed attacks do increased damage and gain power as they advance. Note: Novice's Suffering does not apply to a druid's Spiritshift form.

Effects[ | ]

Notes[ | ]

  • It grants +5 (+2 per 3 levels after 1) unarmed damage – for a total of +15 damage at level 16 – and +0 (+4 per 3 levels after 1) unarmed accuracy. The bonus damage is subject to increase by stats such as Might like the monk variant.
  • Unlike weapons' accuracy bonus, the accuracy bonus of Novice's Suffering will not work with offensive abilites like Knock Down, Barbaric Blow, Flames of Devotion, Blinding Strike and such. This is most likely a bug. It only applies to auto-attacks.
  • The unarmed damage bonus of Novice's Suffering is not affected by external damage modifiers other than Might. This is a two-edged sword, however, as it harms critical hits and abilities like Knock Down or Weapon Specialization: Peasant but at the same time negates penalties from grazes and abilities with damage malus like Carnage.
