Moedred is an animancer in Pillars of Eternity.
He can be found on the lower floor of the Sanitarium in the Brackenbury district of Defiance Bay (in the first room on the right).
Background
An animancer scribbles feverishly on a parchment scroll while his free hand dances through the air, counting off unseen objects. His lips move in silent discourse. He studies wichts and hopes to find a way to cure them, to alleviate the suffering of the families affected by the failed attempt to cure Waidwen's Legacy.
He worked together with Helig of Thein for several years at the sanitarium, before Helig left his post. In reality, Moedred wound up cutting Helig's throat and dumping his body in the catacombs. He considers the deed a favor for the world, as Helig used to commit heinous crimes while in sanitarium's walls, torturing souls in the name of science and flaying the essence of Glanfathans for his own amusements. In Moedred's own words, if the public realized what was going on, the sanitarium would be taken apart bit by brick until there was nothing else.
Of course, it takes a bit more than that to dispatch a talented necromancer. Helig actually managed to stay "alive" in undead form by combining his research and a smattering of Engwithan knowledge, allowing him to continue his research in secret.

Quests
- A Voice from the Past: During the quest A Voice from the Past, undead Helig tries to trick you into killing Moedred (under pretense of getting you to try and steal his grimoire), but if you tell him about it instead of going through with it, Moedred tasks you with killing Helig instead.
