Dalton is a character in Pillars of Eternity.
Background
This elderly man paces back and forth, taking short, hobbled steps. His gaze is distant, and beneath it are the dark rings of many restless nights. He appears to be having a conversation with someone who isn't there.
Dalton is an old veteran of the Northwatch Rangers who lives in the Copperlane district of Defiance Bay. He is located west of the actors, over the bridge. The Northwatch Rangers were a famous adventuring party over sixty years ago, known throughout the Dyrwood. Their adventures ended when they faced Helig of Thein in 2763 AI. The necromancer left a trail of bodies in his wake, from Solace Vale to Midwood. Dalton and his party caught up with Helig just west of the Lake of Drowned Tombs, as he tried to flee to the Vailian Republics. The adventurers attacked, but were no match for Helig's power.
When Dalton woke, he found the entire party had been killed, including Rowyna, Dalton's comrade and lover. He planned a future together with her, one filled with adventures and riches. They were too young to be aware of their mortality and by the time death struck, they were separated by the shroud. In recent months, he started to hear her voice near the catacombs. He would have ventured into the catacombs when he was younger, but now, at the age of eighty, he must ask the Watcher to help him.
