Caedman Azo is an animancer in Pillars of Eternity and Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire.

He can be found on the lower floor of the Sanitarium in the Brackenbury district of Defiance Bay (near the south edge of the map, in the laboratory in the Patient Ward which you need Ethelmoer's permission to access).

In Deadfire (assuming you didn't kill him in during The Man Who Waits), he can be found at the Spire of the Soul-Seers Rooftop, in The Sacred Stair, though has no special interactions besides a few lines of dialogue.

A round-faced, balding man turns to face you. His upper lip is pulled upward slightly by his pointed nose, exposing his upper teeth when he scowls.

Beneath a familiar, pointed nose, Caedman Azo's grin achieves a careful balance between polite and sneering. His once-round face has grown gaunter since you last saw him.

Caedman is one of the foremost minds in the sanitarium, Azo is a proud Dyrwoodan and a patriot. He combined his talents with a proclivity for showmanship, leading him to a daring attempt to solve Waidwen's Legacy by creating new souls, proxies, and implanting them in the affected children. His public demonstration in Copperlane was a catastrophic failure, however, leading to his withdrawal from the public eye and work. It was, as with most events, the work of Thaos: The young hollowborn girl Azo planned to infuse with a soul was occupied by the Engwithan's soul, after he disabled the machine meant to put a proxy soul within. The graphic death of the girl, bashing herself to death against Azo's work, was an element of Thaos' plans.

It wasn't until 2823 AI that he returned to his work, trying to solve the Legacy with renewed fervor. Against Ethelmoer's wishes, he used "volunteers" from among the patients to further his research, convinced that either an animancer will crack the Legacy, or nobody. However, he ruined their souls in the process. Gram was particularly vulnerable, due to being mute, and Azo harvested ample amounts of soul essence from him, essentially hollowing the poor man out in his attempt to create proxies for affected children.
