Avian godlike are a sub-race of godlikes in Pillars of Eternity and Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire.

Origin and prevalence[ | ]

Avian godlike are thought to have been blessed before birth by Hylea, the goddess of the birds and the sky. Their bird-like features mirror the avian aspects of the god. By worshippers of Hylea, avian godlike are revered as heralds of the Sky-Mother, while others see them as merely colorful oddities. Either way, avian godlike are exceptionally rare, with the only known example being Pallegina.

Appearance and culture[ | ]

Their divine heritage from the Sky-Mother can be seen in their many bird-like features. Avian godlike grow colorful feathers from their skin and hair, which vary in density. Their golden bird-like eyes contain fully developed nictitating membranes (a thin, semi-transparent eyelid used as an additional layer of protection, without fully obscuring vision).[1]

Their appearance, while present at birth, only fully manifest during puberty. During her childhood, Pallegina underwent a procedure to reverse some of her avian appearances, and as such, does not display all the features of a fully-developed avian godlike, leaving no known examples. What is known is that their feathers eventually spread to most of their body, that they grow talon-like fingers, as well as a beak in place of a nose. It is not known if pubic hair is also composed of feathers - Hiravias' question is very nearly met with disembowelment for an answer.[2]
