Woden Teylecg (? - 18 Majiverno 2808 AI) is a character mentioned in Pillars of Eternity.
Background[edit | edit source]
Born in Gilded Vale in a farming family, Woden was the elder brother of Eder. The two boys had a typical rural childhood, experiencing all the ups and downs of hard farm life. The usual combination of natural tenacity and childhood pranks (like Woden waking Eder up with a bucket of water or Eder taking his revenge with a throng of biting ants poured into Woden's boots) forged a bond of filial friendship and trust between them. Eder looked up to his older brother, never knowing him to make the wrong decision.
As such, when the Saint's War began and Woden enlisted, Eder joined his brother, falling in with the Dyrwoodan militia fighting against Readceras' armies. However, while Eder assumed that his brother sided against Waidwen, Woden sided with Waidwen, fighting under the Readceran banner. He got as far as Defiance Bay after leaving Gilded Vale to enlist, then made a snap decision to head for Readceras. Upon reaching its capital city, he met Waidwen in person and joined his army, eventually attaining the coveted rank of standard bearer.
The two brothers never clashed in battle and never met each other again, as Woden fell in the third battle of Clîaban Rilag on 18 Majiverno 2808. Rumors of his affiliation circulated and eventually reached Gilded Vale, triggering his brother's crisis of faith... And almost costing him his life.
