Wizards have access to a variety of offensive and personal defense spells. Unlike priests and druids, wizards learn individual spells that they store in and cast directly from their grimoires. Grimoires can only hold four spells of each spell level, which motivates wizards to keep multiple grimoires for different needs. Every two levels, wizards gain access to an additional set of spells. However, they can automatically learn one spell of any level they can access each time they advance. Wizards also have the option of learning spells from grimoires they find or buy. Initially, their spells can be cast a limited number of times per rest. As wizards gain power, their weaker spells eventually shift to per-encounter use.

Wizards can cast spells that are listed in the equipped grimoire, and a single grimoire can hold four spells of any given level. For any given spell level, wizards have potential access to more spells than any other caster class, but their access at any particular moment is always limited by their current grimoire. You can change the grimoire during combat, but switching grimoires disables spellcasting for a short while You can rearrange your spells/grimoires whenever you like (outside of combat) and once you have learned a spell, it's available to use in as many grimoires as you'd like.

If Wizards come across a spell in an enemy's grimoire, they can choose to learn that spell for the cost (in Copper pands (cp)) required to research it.[1] Wizards also learn one or two new spells when they gain a level, but they can't choose to learn unique spells on level up.[1]

Roughly one-quarter to one-third of spells are named after their creator. Among these named wizards, Concelhaut and Minoletta have notably invented the highest number of spells.[2]

1st Level Wizard Spells[edit | edit source]

Arcane Assault is learnt automatically by all wizards at level 1.

Calls a field of unearthly blades into existence, inflicting immediate Pierce damage and a Hobbled affliction on targets in the area of effect.

A bolt of electricity jumps from the caster's fingers to the nearest enemy, and then to the next nearest, causing decreasing amounts of Shock damage.

A quick strike of Crushing force, dealing little damage but having a high chance to disrupt enemy spellcasters.

Creates duplicates of the caster to distract enemies, granting a high Deflection bonus which is reduced with each hit taken.

Creates a lance of pure necrotic energy, causing Corrode damage instantly and over time.

Creates a scorching ray of flame between the caster and the target, inflicting continual Burn damage to the target and anyone caught in the ray.

The caster's hand becomes a toxic parasite, causing Corrosive damage to the target, Weakening it, and converting its lifeforce to the caster as Endurance.

  • On bounce: -50% damage
Caster becomes a living generator for a powerful bolt of electricity that streaks out in a straight line and bounces off of walls, harming anything caught in its path.
Deleterious alacrity of motion icon.png Deleterious Alacrity of Motion Fast 30.0 seconds Caster draws upon his or her life force to gain an increase to Speed and Movement while draining his or her own Endurance.

Summons a flaming ball of molten earth that explodes at a targeted location, causing Burn damage to all in the area of effect.

  • Continually replenished until the spell ends, or the caster changes weapon
Creates a ball of energy in the caster's hand that can be thrown at an enemy, causing Burn, Freeze, Corrode, or Shock damage to anyone caught in the area of effect - blights are continually replenished until the spell ends.

Causes the caster to appear visually displaced, increasing their Deflection and Reflex for the duration. Additionally, many Deflection and Reflex attacks that score Hits will be converted to Grazes.

Engulfs the caster in fire, increasing their Freeze Damage Reduction and causing Burn damage to anyone who damages them with a melee attack.
Ironskin icon.png Ironskin Fast Transmutes the caster's skin into iron, adding significantly to their Damage Reduction. This effect lasts for up to ten attacks.
Llengraths mental shields icon.png Llengrath's Mental Shields (Unique) [WM2] Fast 45.0 seconds The caster gains immunity to the Charmed, Confused, Dazed, Distracted, Dominated, Frightened, Stunned, and Terrified afflictions. The shields will negate two attacks from each affliction type.

Gives the caster access to up to three 'free' 3rd or lower level spells from the target's (wizard, druid, or priest) spell list. The wizard can subsequently cast those spells an unlimited number of times for the duration.

Creates a bitter surge of ice and freezing cold air, inflicting Freeze damage on anyone caught in the conical area of effect.
Call to slumber icon.png Call to Slumber Average 10m 2.5m Radius 6.0 seconds Causes a group of enemies to momentarily fall asleep, falling Unconscious for a short duration.
Citzals spirit lance icon.png Citzal's Spirit Lance Fast 45.0 seconds Creates a pike of pure magical force, that deals Pierce damage and causes a foe-only Blast explosion like wands do.
Form of the helpless beast icon.png Form of the Helpless Beast [WM2] Slow 10m 10.0 seconds Transforms a single kith enemy (aumaua, dwarf, elf, godlike, human, or orlan) into a pig. The pig has very poor defenses but can move quickly.

An insidious magical contingency activates when the caster hits 50% Endurance. He or she immediately knocks all immediately close enemies prone while gaining a Damage Reduction and Defense bonus for a short time.

  • AoE: 15-22 Raw damage
Generates a cloud of virulent poison, inflicting Raw damage to anyone in the cloud every few seconds.

Arkemyrs capricious hex icon.png Arkemyr's Capricious Hex Average 10m 5.0m Radius 12.0 seconds Unleashes a volatile hex upon enemies in the area of effect, causing them to become either Dazed, Sickened, or Paralyzed, depending on its own mysterious whims.

  • Target: 30-50 Shock damage
  • Foe Jump Targets (x6): 30-50 Shock damage
The caster calls forth a tremendous bolt of electricity that arcs directly to a single target and then jumps between up to six nearby enemies. Others in the area of effect are not harmed by the arcane lightning.
Citzals martial power icon.png Citzal's Martial Power Fast 30.0 seconds Caster temporarily sacrifices arcane power for martial might. Wizard gains bonuses to Deflection, Accuracy, Might, Constitution and Dexterity, but becomes unable to cast spells or switch grimoires for the duration of the spell.

  • Foe AoE: 30-45 Corrode damage, Destroyed
Calls a black ring of necrotic energy into being that spreads out in all directions, causing Corrode damage to enemies it touches and potentially destroying those with low Endurance.
Gaze of the adragan icon.png Gaze of the Adragan Average 8m 1.5m Radius 6.0 seconds Gives the caster the mystifying gaze of the adra creature that provides the spell's namesake, Petrifying enemies within the area of effect.

The wizard summons a rod that hurls a ball of magical energy. When the ball arrives at its target, it hovers for a few moments before exploding, inflicting terrible Raw damage on nearby enemies.

A truly unique spell, Concelhaut's Crushing Doom summons an enormous magical hammer that repeatedly slams down into its target, doing Crush damage and knocking them Prone. The hammer strikes repeatedly, becoming larger, more accurate, and more damaging each time.

  • AoE: 50-65 Burn damage
The wizard hurls out a tiny ball of flame that sits for a fixed amount of time before exploding for heavy Burn damage.

  • Caster: +40 Deflection, +30 Reflex, +50% of incoming Hits converted to Grazes (Deflection and Reflex only)

Causes the caster to appear visually displaced, increasing their Deflection and Reflex for the duration. Additionally, many Deflection and Reflex attacks that score Hits will be converted to Grazes.
Llengraths warding staff icon.png Llengrath's Warding Staff [WM2] Fast 5.0m Radius from Caster 30.0 seconds This spell conjures a powerful quarterstaff that adds Deflection and pushes enemies away with a Hobbled effect on each successful attack. The summoning itself also pushes everyone (including allies) away from the caster.
Ninagauths killing bolt icon.png Ninagauth's Killing Bolt [WM1] Slow 10m
  • Target: 75 Raw damage
This spell inflicts a heavy amount of Raw damage to the target. Any non-Spirit felled by the attack will summon a Spectre under the caster's control.
