Hi Ausir! I found this wiki on the PE forums and figured I'd see what I could do to help. I am an experienced wiki editor (Guild Wars 2 Wiki being my most notable location) and as Project Eternity is something I foresee myself being very much into, I figured I would offer my assistance here as well.

This is not the first wiki I've worked on prior to the release of the relevant game, so I figured I'd add my input and see what you thought. My first suggestion would be that we make it very clear what is guaranteed content [at a given time] and what isn't (i.e. while the image depicts a dwarven ranger, it does not necessarily guarantee the existence of a dwarven race or a ranger class, although they are both pretty likely.) Speculation tends to leave things to be cleaned up later, and this is especially true with games in development. Concepts change and ideas are added and removed, and if you have speculation-based articles, when the game is finally released, it requires heavy cleanup of all content to make sure that only facts are displayed.

The second thing I would suggest is that I would see if you can get the designers to promote the presence of a wiki devoted to their game. Having a userbase of two people doesn't permit the wiki to be as comprehensive as to some people's tastes and, beyond that, the more the merrier.

The third thing I would recommend is that infrastructure and design are determined quickly, so that when important information comes along, it is easy to handle.

I realized that I've posted a gigantic wall of text as the first comment on a page in this entire wiki, but I thought I'd just bring some stuff up.

Also, hi, I'm Aqua, nice to meet you. Aqua (talk) 21:03, 22 September 2012 (UTC)

To respond to your response, I think that we should use The Vault as a base, but I think we should try to make the templates here unique and different. It's a new game, make some new graphic stuff. Also we could use all of the various colored banners for headers if someone can scrub the text from them. Aqua (talk) 23:13, 24 September 2012 (UTC)

I'm here[edit source]

And I approve of this message. Tagaziel (talk) 08:35, 5 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi again![edit source]

Hi Ausir,
I was wondering if you could give me administrator privileges so that I can delete/protect stuff as necessary right now. While I'm setting stuff up I'm finding that there are pages needing deletion but I don't want to do it messily (through moving the page). (As a sidenote, I didn't know that you could delete pages simply by moving content from that; doesn't that usually leave a redirect? Or is it just that the php/wiki settings are set so that you can delete through moves?) Aqua (talk) 04:07, 3 February 2013 (UTC)

Also, do you know if its possible to disable the security check (the "click all the dog/cat pictures") whenever I add an external link? I realize that its supposed to keep vandal bots from link-spamming, but couldn't it be set so that only accounts that are not yet autoconfirmed (or anonymous editors) have to go through it? I've gone through the captcha several times already and its getting very tedious. Aqua (talk) 05:46, 3 February 2013 (UTC)

V-align[edit source]

Is there a reason valign doesn't work on this wiki? The lack of this is preventing a lot of potential designs from working properly... Aqua (talk) 03:30, 6 May 2013 (UTC)

Theme[edit source]

Hi, it looks like you and Aqua had vault-escy design in mind for this wiki, but since Aqua gone awol (preoccupied with studies) we are kind of stuck with "under construction" feel atm, half step in one direction and half in the other. It would be great if you can finish the vault-escy theme layout or go with something else like the theme Suggestion i posted on Aqua talk page. But at the very least we need help with fixing some basic readability issues with table colors.--AnotherArk (talk) 09:57, 6 January 2014 (UTC)

Reply: I can help with little things, but I am not a theme designer, certainly nothing up to the standard that you guys set up in the Vault/wasteland wikis... So we still going to need some help with that.--AnotherArk (talk) 15:20, 6 January 2014 (UTC)

I have played a little with css, trying to follow the current theme, but there are still many little issues with various elements. More importantly the main issue remains i.e. what the wiki layout should be. A vault-escy like design, with max width for all pages, like obsidian backer portal(or our mainpage attempts to) or should we go with Wikipidea like full page design(like Numenera wiki). --AnotherArk (talk) 10:40, 8 January 2014 (UTC)

Also in the mean time, do you know if we are allowed to use those two images 1 2 for our tabs? --AnotherArk (talk) 12:37, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
I am done with the tabs, it works perfectly for me(with chrome), even better than the original(they have a one pixel alignment error between left and right navs).--AnotherArk (talk) 18:04, 10 January 2014 (UTC)
Well I am going with a "full page design", not because I think its best, quite the opposite I think that limited width("vault-escy") design lends it self better to wikis, but I don't know how to make it happen. So I'll be playing with what we have until someone better comes along and can do a proper work of our design.
I just added the sidebar image to makes it more visually interesting. I set it to 10% opacity so it won't be too dominant nor obstruct anythings(you might need to refresh). I am also looking for something for that space above the tabs and possibly move the ad there as well. Any thoughts or ideas ?--AnotherArk (talk) 11:44, 11 January 2014 (UTC)

[edit source]

About the new wiki logo File:Wiki.png, compared to the previous logo design it looks bare bones naked(little bit sad like a cat after a bath), so before I adjust the top margins, is there a way of making the previous design work only with "pillars" instead of "project" in it? or alternatively what about one of these more colorful variants: File:Pillars of Eternity logo.png File:Pillars of Eternity logo2.png?--AnotherArk (talk) 13:18, 15 January 2014 (UTC)

Abuse filter..[edit source]

Can you please take a look at the Abuse filter log? Because I took a look at some examples and it feels like the Abuse filter is over zealous, it this point its better disable anon edits than "troll" people who want to contribute here with Nonsensical filter.--AnotherArk (talk) 18:00, 10 January 2014 (UTC)

Ads[edit source]

Any chance Gamepedia stuff will be inclined to turn off Ads on non main namespaces such as template and files ? I doubt they get any traffic and they are really annoying there. --AnotherArk (talk) 20:19, 11 April 2014 (UTC)

Well it was a long shot... I didn't really expect that gamepedia will be inclined to make any changes to its Ad policy certainly not local and for some small wiki at that. Anyway, since we apparently have the ear of Gamepedia stuff right here, how about adding couple of common extensions (originally asked for here) --AnotherArk (talk) 01:19, 19 April 2014 (UTC)
I'll take care of these, thanks. VaultAusir (talk) 20:00, 20 April 2014 (UTC)

Infobox magic[edit source]

I am really intrigued as to how did you guys at the vault manged to add an upload button for missing files i.e. if you paste this at the vault {{infobox |image =sdfsdfsdfsdf.jpg}} you get a nice upload button. But then again I can't find in the code any reference to ifexist or that parameter at all ! All I can find is how you did it if no image info was provided at all. Any hints for me ?--AnotherArk (talk) 20:52, 12 April 2014 (UTC)

Manual of Style[edit source]

Due to a recent infobox images issue, which came about due to different formatting styles\preferences, I have decided to updated our Manual of Style. Filling it with some rough copy&paste basics of common generic guidelines, please take a look at it to make sure that indeed reflect a consensus common ground for us, and add/correct/expand/punctuate whatever is necessary to make it so. --AnotherArk (talk) 10:51, 13 April 2014 (UTC)

Party[edit source]

I don't think that Animal companions[1] belong to that page\section. They are class ability, they do not count toward maximum party size and you don't recruit them. --AnotherArk (talk) 08:50, 30 March 2015 (UTC)
