Three-Tusk Stelgaer is one of the six Glanfathan tribes governing Twin Elms.

Background[edit | edit source]

The deadliest of the tribes, Stelgaers ride giant stelgaer into battle, and are known for their ferocity. They inflicted and bore some of the heaviest casualties in the wars with the estramorwn. In fact, there was a rift within Three-Tusk Stelgaer after the War of Black Trees. Dozens of clans broke away from the ravaged lands and retreated further into the Dyrwood, joining whichever tribes would take them. 'Broken tusks,' some call them. The majority of the tribe dug into the half-burned forests to hold the line, and many respect them for it. Those who fled eventually joined other tribes, leaving the Stelgaers in the hands of the wildest and most chaotic fighters. As such, the Stelgaers remain only grudgingly respected by other tribes and deeply feared by those outside Eir Glanfath. Their brutality continues to surprise even fellow tribes, but the fearlessness and commitment make their loyalty unquestioned.[1]

The Three-Tusks have a tradition of fostering the children of other clans. Although this is considered a great honor, the children are also considered part of the clan eligible for selection as anamfath. Simoc, the current anamfath, fears that the newest foster child from the Fisher Crane tribe will succeed him over his twelve children, and cause the Stelgaer to lose their savagery that kept them as a deterrent to foreigners and their attempts to encroach on the territories of Eir Glanfath.
