Icon position[]

Hm …
For Pillars of Eternity, the icon is placed behind the number: Copper pands (cp)1,000.
For Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire, the icon is placed before the number: Copper pires (cp)1,000.
(Also, the linking is different – shouldn't include the number, I think.)

This should be handled consistently.
I see that this one was built after Deadfire's inventory GUI as it displays the party's assets. This is only similar to how PoE handles it, as in that one's inventory screen there's a huge gap between the icon and the number – the icon is used more as a description or title, together with the Camping Supplies directly above. Examining an item, however, shows the value as "1000cp" – in both games. No icon – that's a wiki gimmick – but behind the number, as {{cp}} does.

Opinions on where the icon shall be displayed, before or after the number? -- UserCCCSig -- You talkin' to me? -- cCContributions -- 15:39, 5 January 2019 (UTC)

Before. Much of our audience will mentally parse that like with pounds, dollars, or Euros, which come before the amount. Poland usually places it after the amount, but that ain't it, guvna. Tagaziel (talk) 16:20, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
Yeah, thought of this, too, though in Germany it's done as in Poland, as well. ;) Okay, I'll change it. Another question: with or without number inside the link? (I'd prefer outside.) -- UserCCCSig -- You talkin' to me? -- cCContributions -- 16:26, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
Consistency is good, but I should say that how cp2 currently is (e.g number with icon prefix) is exactly like how a value is displayed in the shop window - which I guess is why it's like that. Do you know how is it displayed in poe1's shop windows, or is it just "1000cp"? And regarding linking, cp or cp2 both don't link the number which is I think good, but the icon should link to Currency instead of to the icon page, so I'd say go ahead and fix that. I agree with the analogy to actual currency, it seems easier to look at. Macklin (talk) 16:29, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
Oops – mistook the different color for a link. Why coloring it, then?
The PoE1 stores simply add e.g. "75cp" at the end of the item row, no icon. -- UserCCCSig -- You talkin' to me? -- cCContributions -- 16:41, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
I guess for the exact same reason. It's coloured like that in-game. Macklin (talk) 16:48, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
Regarding your change, I much much MUCH prefer no space between the icon and the number. Can we discuss this? If you need non-breaking use a ZWNBSP or my template Template:Nowrap. Also the logic can be simplified, but I will change this later. Macklin (talk) 17:21, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
Why no space? -- UserCCCSig -- You talkin' to me? -- cCContributions -- 17:24, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
Idk, just looks weird - in the same way "$ 1000" looks weird versus "$1000". Also I should add a zwnbsp doesn't work between images and text, but putting the icon inside the span will. Macklin (talk) 17:28, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
If you think so, feel free to apply your changes (on both templates). The current coding for no break does work. -- UserCCCSig -- You talkin' to me? -- cCContributions -- 17:48, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
Including removing the space? Many many indents o_o. Macklin (talk) 18:00, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
I copy-paste the colons from above – easier than counting. :D
Maybe the penultimate now, though: I said, "feel free". ;) -- UserCCCSig -- You talkin' to me? -- cCContributions -- 18:04, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
Just...one...more: Guessing that's a yes. Any reason you switched to text-bottom? For Deadfire the icon in cp2, I found text-top keeps the icon more inline with the numbers - text-bottom is more suitable for poe1 the icon in cp. Also I'm fairly certain cp stands for Copper Pands, and isn't short for coppers. So says the facinating Almanac Of The Eastern Reach, 2823 AI "...The most rudimentary and accessible form of currency found in Dyrwood, and the rod by which all others are measured, is the copper pand (pahnd, "pawn"), abbreviated as "cp.")..." Macklin (talk) 18:29, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
(Should import the "outdent" template from somewhere …)
You're guessing right. :)
Why would there be a difference between how poe1 and poe2 handles "text-bottom/top"? I changed that on this template because I couldn't imagine there to be one – but if you say so, revert it.
I used simply "coppers" because many times the game uses it also when e.g. notifying you about a reward – if I remember correctly. Also this doesn't distinguish between Copper Awlds (Glanfathan), Copper Pands (Dyrwood), Copper Pires (Vailian Republics) and Copper Skeyts (Aedyr Empire), so it's more universal. -- UserCCCSig -- You talkin' to me? -- cCContributions -- 19:07, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
So, you ignored my last sentence about the usage of "coppers" … -- UserCCCSig -- You talkin' to me? -- cCContributions -- 13:05, 6 January 2019 (UTC)

Idk, I don't really agree with that. Isn't the above quote evidence enough that cp is copper pands? The currency used when you buy and sell stuff is always in copper pands, no? In both games you never make transactions in other currencies. Macklin (talk) 13:24, 6 January 2019 (UTC)
