Career[edit | edit source]
Steve Weatherly started out at Obsidian Entertainment as a tools programmer on the Neverwinter Nights 2 toolset. His next project at the company would be as an AI programmer for the now cancelled Aliens RPG. When the project was cancelled, he was moved to the Alpha Protocol team, where he helped out with bugfixing for the AI.
His next project would be Dungeon Siege III, he was responsible for building the game's AI and the AI of Obsidian's new game engine Onyx.
Before being moved to Pillars of Eternity, he also worked on Obsidian's upcoming South Park RPG, South Park: The Stick of Truth. Since the South Park game uses the Onyx engine, Steve helped integrate the Onyx combat system with the turn based design of South Park. Steve Weatherly was replaced by Tim Cain, and was moved to the Pillars of Eternity team. This meant that he was moved to the now cancelled North Carolina project. He has also worked on various prototypes they were doing to try and pitch games.
