Shroud of the Phantasm is a cloak in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire.

Description

Items in italics are quoted directly from the game.

The fabric of this cloak appears to be stitched with some manner of mystical pattern, but the pattern changes with the movement of the garment, confusing the eye into seeing what isn't there.

Students of Wael have quietly experimented with illusions, ever fascinated with theories that the world around them is a deception, a dream, or both. One year, an entire class of ambitious apprentices organized around the idea, forming a secretive coterie of existential skeptics. They donned cloaks like these to recognize one another outside of their covert meetings.

A dozen such cloaks were later found abandoned among a library's stacks of tomes. The fate of the bearers and their research is unknown, but the cloaks have circulated ever since as arcane curiosities.

Trivia

  • The description of Shroud of the Phantasm used to be the following:
The Shroud of the Phantasm seems to grant the wielder the favor of Wael, though the will of the God of Secrets is all but impossible to discern for certain. Wearers gain the ability to manifest illusory duplicates and are rarely, if the God of Secrets is watching, struck with bolts of understanding capable of turning the tide of battle.

Behind the scenes
