Rangers are expert sharpshooters with any ranged weapon. Though they traditionally rely on bows and crossbows, some use firearms or even magical implements. Regardless of their choice of armament, even novice rangers can strike swiftly and leave severe wounds that quickly wear down an enemy's endurance and movement. They are assisted in their efforts by their animal Companions, incredibly tough and loyal creatures with whom rangers form lifelong bonds, who share their lives (literally) with their masters.

Rangers have the second highest single-target damage output capability and can use all abilities at a long range. They coordinate their strikes with the help of animal companions. which are an integral part of the class and gain additional abilities as the ranger advances.

|Animal Companion||All rangers possess an animal companion. A ranger and their animal companion have independent endurance and health pools.||1|
|Wounding Shot||Can be used both with melee and ranged weapons. The ranger's shot inflicts a continuous damage effect and Hobbles the target.|
|Marked Prey||Marks a target, improving damage dealt to it by the ranger and their animal companion.|
|Swift Aim||This mode increases the ranger's rate of fire and reload with ranged weapons at the cost of an Accuracy penalty.|
|Vicious Aim||By lowering Attack and Reload Rate, the ranger is able to take more careful aim, giving them increased Accuracy and Damage.|
|Predator's Sense||The ranger's animal companion gains a damage bonus on any creature suffering from a continuous damage effect.|
|Defensive Bond||When both the ranger and his or her animal companion are subjected to an area effect attack, they gain +15 to the targeted defenses.|
|Stalkers' Link||The ranger gains an Accuracy bonus when fighting any enemy engaged by their animal companion.|
|Arrow Sense||The ranger gains +15 Deflection against ranged attacks.|
|Takedown||The ranger's animal companion gains a per encounter ability that knocks the target Prone.|
|Driving Flight||Each ranged attack loosed by the ranger contains such force as to fly straight through the first target and hit another behind it (within a 20-degree arc) for less damage.|
|Heal Companion [WM2]||The ranger can heal his or her companion.|
|Binding Roots||Conjures roots from the ground underneath a target, causing them to become Stuck.|
|Revive Companion [WM2]||The ranger can revive his or her companion and restore a small amount of Endurance.|
|Master's Call||Calls the ranger's animal companion to his or her side, causing the companion to move back to the ranger at increased speed, ignoring Engagement and knocking any enemies in the way Prone.|
|Stunning Shots||When an enemy engaged by the ranger's animal companion is hit or critically hit by the ranger, inflict stun as a secondary attack against Fortitude.|
|Play Dead [WM1]||Cause the ranger's animal companion to appear dead, causing it to regain endurance and become untargetable.|
|Twinned Arrows [WM1]||When using a hunting bow or war bow, the ranger can opt to fire 2 shots, at the cost of accuracy. This is a modal ability.|
|Powder Burns [WM2]||The ranger overloads each shot of his or her firearm with excessive powder. The resulting blast generates a powerful cone of flame, but temporarily leaves the ranger Blinded.|
|Vengeful Grief [WM2]||When a ranger or his or her animal companion are knocked out, the partner suffers the normal effects of bonded grief, but becomes filled with focused rage for a short duration. While so focused, they gain Speed, Movement, and do additional Damage.|
Talents[edit | edit source]
- Vicious Companion – Trains the ranger's animal companion in vicious tactics, causing it to deal more damage with each hit.
- Swift and Steady – The ranger becomes better able to shoot quickly, reducing the Accuracy penalty of Swift Aim.
- Accurate Wounding Shot – The ranger's aim becomes deadlier, making his or her Wounding Shots more accurate.
- Brutal Takedown – The ranger trains his or her animal companion to inflict Crush damage on opponents when using Takedown.
- Thorny Roots – The ranger's Binding Roots sprout nasty thorns that do additional Pierce and Slash damage to the target.
- Faithful Companion – The ranger's animal companion gains improved defenses against Charmed, Confused, and Dominated afflictions.
- Resilient Companion – The ranger's animal companion gains improved Damage Reduction against all damage types.
- Merciless Companion – Animal companions do small amounts of Sneak Attack damage against targets that qualify.
- Strengthened Bond – Increases the shared bonus provided by Defensive Bond.
