Pets are a special type of follower: They can't be attacked and will follow the player character around.

Pets are represented in inventory by a special item in Pillars of Eternity, and appear once equipped.

  • In combat pets are handled like allies, "suffering" from all AoE-effects, though without any change to their non-existent stats; this explains why the number of affected targets in the combat log may be by 1 higher than the actual number of party members in the area of effect. Additionally a pet may be "in the way", hindering a character from reaching a specific target for a melee attack.
