Uses describes the amount of times an item, ability, or effect can be used. Once spent, the player may have to rest, wait until the next encounter, or wait until the next stronghold turn in order to replenish them.
Usage types[edit | edit source]
- Per rest - A per rest ability can only be used for a set number of times before running out of uses. For example, an ability that has 3 uses per rest may only be used 3 times. To regain these uses, the character must rest.
- Per encounter - A per encounter ability can only be used for a set number of times per combat. For example, an ability that has 3 uses per encounter may only be used 3 times during a single fight. At the end of combat, the uses will be refilled for the next encounter.
- Per stronghold turn - A per stronghold turn ability can only be used for a set number of times per Stronghold turn. For example, an ability that has 3 uses per turn may only be used 3 times before the Stronghold time gets increased, at which moment the uses will be refilled.
- Per playthrough / Charges - Some items (such as those with Charged Spellbind enchantments) have a finite amount of uses in total, which cannot be replenished once they are spent. These items use the term charges instead.
