Background[edit | edit source]
Located north of Readceras in the Eastern Reach, the Ixamitl Plains are a large expanse of fertile savannas that are extensively farmed by its savanna folk and orlan residents. The Ixamitl culture is one of the oldest in the world, though one of the least imperialistic, having spread out little over the past several thousand years. Ixamitl society places a strong emphasis on learning and scholarship and honors their philosophers and literati.
Although the outsiders tend to view it as one, single nation, the vastness of Ixamitl means that it's a region filled with diverse cultures and people. Despite its lack of imperialistic ambitions or political unity, ad hoc coalitions form regularly to defend against foreign invaders. This was the case when the barbarian Blesca united southern Ixamitl tribes long enough to dissuade Aedyr Empire from expanding Readceras northwards.
Many of its tribes are nomadic, especially in the far-flung reaches of Ixamitl plains. They travel on horseback and are renowned for both their skills in riding, as well as horseback archery. Many develop their own, unique armor types adapted to heavy traveling, raiding, and long overland migrations, which are as precious to them as the horses that enable them to cross the plains.
Known polities[edit | edit source]
- Readceras: Located in the fertile regions of the Plains bordering the Dyrwood,
- Tacan: An extinct culture that gave rise to the Nalpazca monk order.
- Quechmatl: A warlike culture that came into conflict with the Tacan.
