Sanguine Great Sword is a great sword in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire.

Description

Forged through ritual sacrifice, this sword radiates the hot, metallic scent of fear and the singed sulfur smell of anger. When you hold it, you taste blood on your tongue and hear the whispered cries of the soul fragment trapped within.

The enchanted blade seems almost to guide its own motions, hungrily seeking out flesh to cut. It is a greedy thing with an unquenchable thirst, and once it draws blood, it is loath not to sup on the sweet, spilling essence within.

Acquisition

• Can be found by following the Sanguine Harvest mini questline.
• You'll first see mention of the harvest in a journal found in the Bent Bough Forest. It will hint at Arkemyr's name. Speaking with Arkemyr at his mansion, he'll say that he might have a book on the subject in his basement (you may have already acquired this earlier).
• The book hints at the 16th of the month as being important and a ritual involving a great sword. Travel to an island near Rikuhu's Maw in the northwest corner of the map (the one with Fampyr's Crypt and Bent Bough Forest). Resting until the 16th of the month and then approaching the forest allows you to witness a sacrificial ritual involving a woman. If you choose to interrupt the ritual early you can save the woman. If you wait until after the sacrifice you can attack the cultists and receive this great sword as loot.

• It is possible to get multiple copies of the Sanguine Great Sword, as under certain conditions the Bent Bough Forest location will not disappear from the world map, allowing you to to repeat the interaction over and over.
