Dereo the Lean is a character in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire.
Background[edit | edit source]
A thin, long-limbed man holds a handkerchief in one hand and a threaded needle in the other. As you approach, he sets his handiwork aside, and you see an elaborate goldwork pattern embroidered around the edge - the same pattern that adorns his brilliant tunic. You also notice a strange bulk beneath the thin fabric of his trouser legs that runs from hip from ankle. He leans forward with a squeak of leather and a rattle of metal. You see something protruding above his boots - the bottom of a leg brace.
Dereo is an old style Principi, back from a time when that meant loyalty and unity. Although he's not fond of the new blood flooding the organization, he recognizes the fact that they are necessary if the Princes are to stand against Rauatai, VTC, and the Huana.
It has been suggested that his character is inspired by that of Gustavo Fring from the TV series Breaking Bad.
