Chaotic Orb Trap is a trap in Pillars of Eternity, added in The White March - Part I expansion.
Description
Named for the eccentric Aedyran wizard Tayn, the chaotic orb bounces between a number of enemies, dealing damage and inflicting a variety of negative Afflictions including Petrified, Paralyzed, Weakened, Sickened, Stunned, and Blinded.
Acquisition
- Added to the stash upon disabling a Chaotic Orb Trap.
- [WM1] Sold by Yduran in Stalwart Village (1-3×).
- [WM1] Crägholdt: Looted from a bookcase on the left side of Sabel's lab.
- [WM1] Longwatch Falls: Trapped chest in the camp on the far northeastern edge of the map.
- [WM1] Galvino's Workshop: Trap in the doorway just before the "Testing Grounds".
- [WM2] Mowrghek Îen: On the docks around the Cultist Settlement (east of the marker for it on the map).
Notes
- The 3 instances of this trap in-world have a detect difficulty of 8-10 and a disarm difficulty of 12-15.
- When encountered as a hostile hazard (i.e. not placed by the player), this trap casts Tayn's Chaotic Orb (hazard ability): Foe Target: 90-120 Crush Damage | Accuracy (+10) vs. Deflection, If successful: Petrified for 3.0 sec, Paralyzed for 4.0 sec, Weakened for 7.0 sec, Sickened for 8.0 sec, Stunned for 5.0 sec, Blinded for 6.0 sec | Accuracy (+10) Will, Foe Jump Targets (x5): Applies the same effects as Foe Target
