Bombs or explosives are a type of consumable item in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire. They work in conjunction with the Explosives skill, and can be thrown both in and out of combat in order to distract, deal direct AoE damage, or apply an AoE effect to enemies and allies from a distance. All bombs can be crafted.
All bombs share the following stats:
- Cast Time: 0.6 sec
- Recovery Time: 4.0 sec
- Range: 8m
Description
Bombs are equipped as Quick Items in a character's inventory. All bombs use the character's Explosives skill to determine their effectiveness.
Power levels
Each point in the user's Explosives skill increases the power level of all used bombs by 1. Each level has the following effects (where applicable):
- +5% damage.
- +5% duration.
- +0.25 Penetration - rounded up to the nearest 0.1.
- +1 Accuracy - rounded down to nearest integer (truncated).

Reverse pickpocketing
In addition to being thrown at enemies regularly, all bombs have an additional explosive effect that is triggered when the bomb is placed into the inventory of an NPC, after a delay of 10 seconds. Explosives detonated in this way gain significant damage, accuracy and penetration bonuses, but have a reduced area of effect.
