|Game||Pillars of Eternity|
Aelys Harond is a captive noblewoman in Pillars of Eternity.
Background[edit | edit source]
The heir to House Harond, Aelys was escorted by Lord Harond to Eina's Rest, to be betrothed as part of an arranged marriage meant to improve the family's fortunes. However, during an overnight stay in Dyrford she took ill and subsequently disappeared. Although her father turned the town upside-down, he stood no chance of finding her, as Wymund's Skaenite cult took her to the ruins of the old keep, in order to transform her into Skaen's assassin. By infusing her with blood from a sacrificial pool at the heart of the temple, they plan to inflict justice on the lord, quite thoroughly.
The marriage was a sham cover story arranged in order to hide a case of incest: The Lord has sired a child with Aelys, who is his niece, as part of ensuring that his own noble line continued, rather than defaulting to Aelys and his sister. The Skaenites take a dim view of incestual nobles, and decided to turn the girl into an instrument of vengeance. Infused with the essence of dozens of maltreated slave and underlings, she will eventually murder her uncle, aunt, and anyone who gets in her way, punishing Lord Harond and his family.
